Shishapangma, at 8,027 meters, is the 14th and lowest of the eight-thousanders, yet it holds a unique distinction: it is the only 8,000-meter peak located entirely within Chinese territory. Situated in Tibet Autonomous Region, its Tibetan name means Ridge Above the Grassy Plain. It was the last of the 8,000-meter peaks to be climbed, with the first ascent achieved by a Chinese expedition in 1964. Shishapangma's relative accessibility from the Tibetan Plateau makes it a popular objective for climbers seeking to complete all fourteen eight-thousanders.
