Gasherbrum II, or K4, reaches 8,034 meters and is the 13th highest mountain on Earth. Located in the Karakoram range on the China-Pakistan border, it is often considered one of the easier eight-thousanders to climb due to its relatively straightforward route and stable weather patterns. First climbed in 1956 by an Austrian expedition, Gasherbrum II features a large, heavily glaciated pyramid that glows golden in the sunset light — a sight that has inspired countless mountaineers throughout history.
